Whitney Blake was an American actress, writer, and director. She is best known for her role as Dorothy Baxter in the television series Hazel (1961–1966). She also wrote and directed several episodes of the show. Blake was born Nancy Ann Whitney in Eagle Rock, California, on February 20, 1926. She began her career as a child actress in the 1930s, appearing in films such as The Little Princess (1939) and The Adventures of Tom Sawyer (1938). In the 1950s, Blake began writing for television, and in 1961 she was cast as Dorothy Baxter in the sitcom Hazel. She wrote and directed several episodes of the show, and remained with the series until its cancellation in 1966. In the 1970s, Blake wrote for the television series The Partridge Family and The Mary Tyler Moore Show. She also wrote the screenplay for the film The Great Bank Hoax (1978). Blake died on September 28, 2002, in Los Angeles, California, at the age of 76.
