On 27 December 2013, she took up sannyasa under Swami Nithyananda. She took the name "Nithyananda Moyi" right now she is serving as a Sri Mahant at Nithyananda Dhyanapeetham.
She wed Army Major Rakesh Menon in 2000. She briefly retired from acting after her wedding. Since her comeback in 2001, she has been acting in supporting roles in films and lead roles in television shows. In 2010, she was met with widespread controversy after alleged footage of her with self-proclaimed godman Nithyananda was leaked by Sun TV.
