Inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2000 (as a member of The Lovin' Spoonful).

Played harmonica on The Doors song "Roadhouse Blue" which appeared on their 1970 album "Morrison Hotel". However, due to the fact that he was signed to another label and the fact that he didn't want his name associated with the group's singer Jim Morrison, who was on trial for indecent exposure in Miami.

He is known for his work on Blow Up (1966), Die Hard with a Vengeance (1995) and The Postman (1997).

His godmother was I Love Lucy (1951) actress Vivian Vance (who played Ethel Mertz), a close friend of his mother Jane Sebastian, whose name Vance mentioned on a number of episodes.
