Andrew Stewart Mackenzie is a British businessman who has been the Chief Executive Officer of BHP Billiton since 2013. He was born on 20 December 1956 in Scotland, United Kingdom. He is the son of a former Royal Navy officer and a schoolteacher. Mackenzie graduated from the University of Aberdeen with a degree in geology and a PhD in mineralogy. He began his career in the oil and gas industry, working for BP and then Shell. In 1997, he joined Billiton, which later merged with BHP to form BHP Billiton. Mackenzie was appointed Chief Executive Officer of BHP Billiton in 2013. He has since overseen the company's expansion into new markets, including the United States and China. He has also been instrumental in the company's efforts to reduce its environmental impact. Mackenzie is married and has two children. He is a keen golfer and enjoys skiing and sailing. He is also a member of the Royal Society of Edinburgh.

Mackenzie was poached from Rio Tinto in 2007 by then CEO of BHP Billiton Marius Kloppers, ahead of a failed takeover bid of Rio Tinto. Mackenzie became the chief executive of non-ferrous in BHP Billiton in November 2008. He succeeded Marius Kloppers as the CEO of BHP Billiton in May 2013. In 2014, he was paid $7,123,000 in total compensation.
